When you homeschool...

and you have had an extremely busy week and your 3rd grader has been reading history all alone.... it is essential that you review together on Friday to make sure she has been learning what she was supposed to.... lest you have a conversation like this....

Who captured Squanto to sell him as a slave? Okay, I know this isn't right, but since I don't know I'm going to guess.... Potiphar???

Who offered Squanto a home in America? Hmmm... I don't remember
I'll give you a hint..... Chief... Chief Yahoo! Oh, wait, no, it's chief mascot!
That would be pronounced Chief Massasoit.

What did Squanto teach the pilgrims to do with the trees? swing from the vines
Yes, but what did they get out of the trees? Pop?

.... because it's just not enough to know how to grind corn and make a great stew like the indians of the prairie!

Pantry clean-out!

Thanks to http://motivatedmoms.com today I was supposed to clean out my pantry. Well, little did I know what I was in for! Here is what I accomplished - just one shelf!!!

And here are all the things I had crammed into that one shelf!
Among other things, 7 packs of Tuna and one unmarked bag of some sort of white powder. Beats me what it is! Pancake mix, biscuit mix???

And the list I made - and plan to use for my next menus as long as it all lasts!!!

I can't wait to see what I find tomorrow when I finish the lower shelves - the backs of which I haven't seen in a long, long time =)

false doctrine???

I made butter chicken for dinner, with rice and chapatis. We love Indian dishes that we can eat with our hands.

However, the butter chicken was a little bit too spicy for Rebekah! She took a bite and jumped from her chair for her water, knocking it over... all over the table =) I grabbed a rag and told her not to worry about it - sorry it was too spicy for her (trying to hide my laughter at her overreaction).

So, she ate rice - which is just about her dream meal!

Then she decided it was not quite enough for her little belly.

"Can I have some yogurt? That way I'll have some protein too!"

'Really, yogurt is protein?' asks an obviously ignorant mother.

"Well, of course mom. What, did you think my health book is teaching me false doctrine?"

Kidspeak!

This morning Rebekah knocks on Nana's door.

Nana: "Come on in pumpkin. Or maybe I should call you half-pint. That's what I called your mom when she was a little girl. She was my little half-pint."

Rebekah: "Except now she's a whole pint!"
