Sea World!

Sea World was an experience we will never forget! It was pretty amazing!

Shamu was humongous! (this is actually not him - somehow I lost that picture) He was monstrous compared to this whale, but getting older and not doing so many tricks. It was pretty cool though because this one had a baby and the baby did tricks too.
Scott bought us gifts and took the only pic of me on vacation since I take all the rest.

Feeding the dolphins was sooooooooo much fun! They would just come up to you and talk and wait for you to drop the food into their mouths. In the meantime, you could pet them. It was so incredible to hear the noises they would make - an amazing creature that God made!
This was a dream come true for Scott. Now someday we need to swim with them! We did get to snorkel with sharks, big fish and stingrays at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon waterpark.

Here's the baby I was telling you about. It is in training, of course, but already could do some cool jumps simultaneously with his momma.
Petting and feeding the stingrays! We spent a lot of time doing this! It surprised me how much I liked them. They are so soft on top, like the fontanel on a baby's head. It was fun to feed them too. You'd put your hand on the bottom holding the fish in between 2 fingers and the stingray would come over the top and suck it up. They have no teeth - it just felt like a vacuum! There were stingray in there probably 6 feet across, maybe more!

I never thought I'd say this, but the stingray were so graceful.
More dolphin fun!

School Day #3 - sick day!

Remember the tough week Danny had at Turkey Hill this summer? Well, this week was the week to get the tetanus booster he needed from that fish hook incident. I don't think the picture does it justice, but his arm swelled a lot, was hard as a rock, burning hot and red, and he got quite the fever. The first day we called the doctor and they said that swelling and soreness were normal. But by day 2 we wondered how normal it was when it looked like elephantitis! As soon as the doctor saw it, we were all glad we took him in! He said the reaction was one in millions and 'NO MORE TETANUS - EVER!!!'

I don't think he minded the day off! He got a good night sleep - despite when I had to wake him up to re-medicate him - and it seems like we are out of the worry zone. I am so thankful that he didn't have breathing problems, and that since he is allergic that we had not gotten it when he was a little baby!

And it is a little ironic that since we have never done immunizations, the one time we do we get the one in millions reaction!

So, it was one of those nights last night, trying to sleep, not being able to, and wondering if I should go in again and check to see if Danny's breathing was okay. Times like that really cause you to think - and I am so infinitely thankful for the peace that comes with knowing that God is in control! It's good to remember that God has given my my children for His glory - and they belong to Him!!!

"Do not fear - for you are of more value than many sparrows. And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will."

Goodbye Andy!

When you're loading the dishwasher and your 9 yr. old is screaming from the bathroom and crying hysterically - what goes through your mind? Immediately I thought, did he get into a razor? No, he's too old for that. He does get bloody noses a lot - but it's not usually quite that much of an ordeal. So, what on earth could be going on? I call out, "Danny, where are you" and his voice answers from the downstairs bathroom. Oh great! The only thing in there is the hot water heater - what on earth did he do? I am afraid to open the door and look! Well, I couldn't take a picture of the whole ordeal - it wasn't a pretty sight, and I'll leave it at that... but suffice it to say that I wasn't about to be the one to fish out what he dropped in! So, I'm trying to figure out a plan of action... Do I
a) put it in a plastic bag and throw it in the trash?
b) try to wash it and let it dry out?
I decided that yes, I would wash it, but not with the intentions of keeping it. I thought it would be best for Danny to determine on his own that it truly was broken and that it wasn't going to work anymore. Hey, I don't want him to be thinking I just threw it away because it was yucky if it still worked. After all, the thing was still beeping as he pulled it out.

So, we are very sad. This was a Christmas present from Pop-Pop, who we don't get to see often, and maybe not for a long time. We'll have to write to him and let him know what happened - and maybe the lesson will be learned - keep your toys out of the bathroom! That's what Reader's Digest is for :)

Can You Guess Where We Are???
